Or is your website the only way for you to earn income? Whichever you are, for as long as you are a webmaster or a web publisher and you need cash, affiliate marketing may work well for you. With affiliate marketing, you may get a lot of cash pouring into your bank account easily. And if your website is rich in great contents and you want to earn more profit, why not get into the Google Adsense program as well?

Why Affiliate Marketing?

Well, simply because affiliate marketing is the easiest and probably the best way to earn profits online, unless otherwise you are a businessman and would rather sell your own products online than advertise other businessman's products on your site. But even online retailers can benefit from affiliate marketing programs, because affiliate marketing actually works for merchants as well as it works for the affiliates.

Affiliate marketing, simply said, is a relationship or agreement made between two websites, with one site being the merchant's website and the other being the affiliate's site. In the relationship, the affiliate agrees to let the merchant advertise his products on the affiliate's site. The merchant, on the other hand, would agree to pay the affiliate in whatever method they have agreed into. This would generally mean easy income for the affiliate, as he would do nothing but place the retailer's ad on his site. This would also be very beneficial for the merchant, as getting affiliates to advertise their products would be a lot more affordable than hiring an advertising firm to promote their products.

There are a variety of methods on how the merchant would compensate the affiliate for his services, and for the webmaster, these methods simply translates to the method by which he would earn easy cash. Among the more common methods of compensation are the pay-per-click method, the pay-per-lead method, and the pay-per-sale method. The pay-per-click method is the method most preferred by affiliates, for their site's visitor would only have to visit the advertiser's site for them to gain money. The other two methods, on the other hand, are better preferred by merchants, as they would only have to compensate you if your visitor becomes one of their registrants or if the visitor would actually buy their products.

Getting much profit on affiliate marketing programs, however, does not depend so much on the compensation method is it does on the traffic generated by your site. A website that can attract more visitors would generally have the greater chance of profiting in affiliate marketing programs.

What about Google Adsense?

Google Adsense is actually some sort of an affiliate marketing program. In Google Adsense, Google act as the intermediary between the affiliates and the merchants. The merchant, or the advertiser, would simply sign up with Google and provide the latter with text ads pertaining to their products. These ads, which is actually a link to the advertiser's website, would then appear on Google searches as well as on the websites owned by the affiliates, or by those webmasters who have signed up with the Google Adsense program.

While one can find a lot of similarities between Google Adsense and other affiliate marketing programs, you can also see a lot of differences. In Google Adsense, all the webmaster has to do is place a code on his website and Google takes care of the rest. The ads that Google would place on your site would generally be relevant to the content of your site. This would be advantageous both for you and for the advertiser, as the visitors of your site would more or less be actually interested with the products being advertised.

The Google Adsense program compensates the affiliate in a pay-per-click basis. The advertisers would pay Google a certain amount each time their ad on your site is clicked and Google would then forward this amount to you through checks, although only after Google have deducted their share of the amount. Google Adsense checks are usually delivered monthly. Also, the Google Adsense program provides webmasters with a tracking tool that allows you to monitor the earnings you actually get from a certain ad.

So, where do all of these lead us to?

Where else but to profits, profits and even more profits! Affiliate marketing programs and the Google Adsense program simply work, whether you are the merchant or the affiliate. For the merchant's side, a lot of money can be saved if advertising effort is concentrated on affiliate marketing rather than on dealing with advertising firms. For the webmaster, you can easily gain a lot of profits just by doing what you do best, and that is by creating websites. And if you combine all your profits from both the Google Adsense program and other affiliate marketing programs, it would surely convert to a large amount of cash.

About the author: William Nabaza of http://www.Nabaza.com specializes in domains, webhosting, webmaster's tools, netpreneur's articles and resources. Well before you completely give up hope I would like to share a little bit of personal experience with the Google Adsense program.

Since it's introduction, thousands of webmasters and internet entrepreneurs have been using Adsense to earn an income online. Signing up for the program is very simple, and once you are approved, placing the ads on your site is a simple as pasting a few lines of code.

A friend first introduced me to Adsense, and to be honest I was skeptical that this was going to be a waste of time like many other so called website revenue systems. I placed the box style ad on all of the pages of my new site and waited with anticipation. Sure enough the money started to trickle in. As I continually added new content and improved my website, it would earn relatively more and more each month.

Now at the risk of stating the obvious, earning with adsense is not as simple as pasting some code on any old webpage and waiting for the money to roll in. There are many factors that needed to be kept in mind to be successful with adsense.

Number 1 - You must have traffic. Well this seems pretty obvious, but what may not be as obvious, especially if you are new to building websites, is that you need lots of good quality content, and it must be added to your site regularly. Fresh content related to your site topic not only increases the number of potential keywords that you may get free search engine traffic from, but also increases your search engine rankings. Where can you find free content? You can find thousands of free articles related to almost any topic right here, and there are also many other free article directories on the web.

Also important to improve your search engine rankings in most search engines are incoming links. Inbound links especially from similar content related sites, and those having a good google pagerank will make a big difference in your SE rankings and will also give you direct traffic via the link itself. These are just some of the basics, and if you give it a shot I am sure you can start making some extra income from your website with adsense.

If you are looking to maximize your efforts and your profits with adsense I would suggest checking out this great manual entitled Adsense Gold. It will teach you everything you need to know to maximize your click thru rate, finding the most valuable keywords to target, and much much more.

About the author: Online marketer and webmaster of www.earn-online.biz

How to Keep Your AdSense Account From Being Nuked by Google

There have been whole AdSense accounts bringing in $5000 per month banned for life from Google because of fraudulent clicks. If Google catches you clicking on your own AdSense ads, they can shut you down.

You won't get canned just for a single click, but if you're like me and tweak your site a lot it's only a matter of time before you click on one of those things by accident.

The way I keep this from happening is I temporarily block the domain name Google's ads are served from. Once I'm finished editing my site I go back under the hood and turn it back on.

Getting this setup will take you less than a minute.

First, find your HOSTS file.

Open Notepad. Go to File, and Choose Open.

If you have Windows 95, 98, or ME browse to the folder "C:windows"

If you have Windows XP Home browse to the folder "C:windowssystem32driversetc"

If you have anything else (Windows XP Pro, Windows 2000, NT, 2003, etc.) browse to the folder: "C:winntsystem32driversetc"

Once you're there, open the file called "hosts". If you don't see anything listed just type the word hosts and the file should open up. Just the word "hosts", no extension or anything after that. It's probably blank but it might not be.

Add this line:

127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

And save. You're done.

Now go back to a site that you know has some Google Ads. There should be an empty space where the ads appeared.

Want to turn it off? Don't just delete it, put a "#" sign in front of that line, like this:

# 127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com

What's that do? It basically says "ignore this line." I like to leave it like that so when I want to hide Google Ads again, all I have to do is remove the "#" sign and save then put the "#" back in when I'm ready to go back to normal.

About the author: See how you can take the oldest PHP trick in the book and give it a unique twist by watching this free video.

http://www.affiliatebattleplan.com/Rewrite.html

5 Ways How I Boosted My Google AdSense Earnings By 700%

Google AdSense is a great way for webmasters to monetize their websites. While many webmasters are struggling hard to earn $3 - $10 per day, some 'genius' webmasters have already enjoyed $30, $100, and even $300 a day from AdSense ads on their websites. How are these 'genius' webmasters differ from their counterparts? They think different! They think out of the box!

Let me share with you some tips which has been responsible in boosting my AdSense profits by 700%. Here are 5 of them, and if you follow these steps, I'm sure you'll see a difference in your AdSense income.

Here are the tips:

1- I concentrate on 1 format of AdSense ad, which is the Large Rectangle (336x280). This format has been proven to work with me in resulting high click-through rates (CTR). Why this format? Because the ads look like normal web links, and people are trained to click on these types of links.

2- I create custom palette for my ads. I choose white as the color for the border and background. This is because, all of my pages have white background. The idea is to make the AdSense ads look like they are a part of my web pages.

3- Previously, I put all my AdSense ads at the bottom of my pages. One day, I moved those ads to the top of the page. The result surprised me. My earning increased! Since then, I don't hide my AdSense ads anymore!

4- I maintain some links to other relevant websites, and I put my AdSense ads at the top of the links, so that my visitors see them first.

5- I automate the insertion of AdSense code into my webpages using SSI (server side included). You'll need to ask your web administrator whether your server supports SSI or not. Here's how to do it. You just put the AdSense code in a text file, save it as 'adsense.txt', and upload it to the root directory of your web server. Next, call the code on other pages using SSI.

This trick is really a time saver especially for those who use automatic page generators to generate pages on their website.

Here's a tool I use to generate thousands of pages on my website within seconds: http://www.adsense-insider-secrets.com/page-gener ator.htm

Try these tips today, and I guarantee your AdSense earnings will improve. They've also become very controversial. Here's the thing: you want a high enough keyword density--at least 7%--that your keywords rank highly in the bigger search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, DogPile, and HotBot.

But, you don't want your keyword densities so high that they turn your content into over-hyped gobbledygook, nor do you want to raise a red flag when the spiders come crawling over your content. If your keyword density is 20% or more, the search engine will most likely red-flag you for "keyword stuffing" and penalize you by moving you down in the search results.

Thus, keyword density ranges are controversial. To make things worse, different search engines have different algorithms. One of them might thing an SEO keyword density of 18% is fine, another may not.

The only way a search engine can figure out just what your page is about is to search for the keywords you use. Those keywords don't necessarily have to be right there on the page--they can be in the title and in links that will lead to the page. Having said that, though, keywords that appear on your page are certainly the most common way that search engines use to decide what your page is all about. Keyword density refers to the ratio of keywords to the total number of words on the page.

Now I want you to look again at the paragraph above. There are 95 words total, and I used the word "keywords" exactly five times. The keyword ratio for the paragraph, then, is 5 divided by 95 times 100, or about 5.26%. Easy math, correct? You bet.

But how much does that stuff matter?

Well, it's not a matter of life and death, but it's pretty important. You see, when a search engine compares two pages to figure out which one ought to rank higher, keyword density will factor into it--usually pretty significantly. In fact, all other factors being equal (which is pretty much impossible, but let's pretend), the page with the higher keyword density will generally rank higher.

However, simple as Keyword Density is, it can also get really complex in a hurry. Do plurals or other stemmed variations of your keyword count as keywords? Should stop words, which are those common words you see all the time like "a" or "the," be ignored when calculating density?

Should you include off-page content, like meta tags and titles, in your calculations? What about keyword frequency or keyword proximity or keyword prominence? What about the Google AdSense ads themselves? And like I've said before, bear in mind that if your keyword density gets too high, search engines just might realize it and penalize your page.

Keyword densities really are not rocket science, so don't fall into the trap of making things more complicated than they need to be. Go to Google and search on "keyword density." The first three pages should be ones that provide about 20 or 25 different tools for calculating KWD.

Now all you have to do is pick one that feels user-friendly to you and use it to optimize your web page, noting the results. Now try something else: run a Google search on your keyword, and run the analysis on the first ten sites. Take a good hard look at the results. From this, you should get a good idea how your page will compare with the ten top ranking pages in Google, at least in terms of keyword density.

Here's the thing that frustrates people, though: if you go and do that with three or four different KWD tools, you will no doubt come up with different numbers, but the graph of those numbers will look very similar. Don't worry about it, because the numbers aren't the most important thing. You only care how they compare to each other.

Something else you'll probably discover is that keyword density is not a very good indicator of rank. The top ranking page may have a much lower density than the page at number ten, for example.

Why does this happen, when you work so hard to get your keyword density high? It happens because KWD is only one factor among many. It's important to a good ranking, but it's not the be-all and end-all of a good ranking. What you really want to know from your analysis is the range of density values that rank well. Chances are good that if your page is below that range, getting on page one to compete with the big dogs will be tough, and if you're above that range, the search engines may think you're "keyword stuffing" and you'll be penalized. Just remember, though, the numbers are guidelines you should know, not carved-in-stone rules that forever define your fate. Experiment!

You may hear other self-proclaimed website gurus (besides myself) say that keyword density should always run between two and eight percent or whatever the current numbers being quoted in forums across the Internet happen to be. That's partly true. Those numbers are probably fairly accurate for most keywords. They're based on averages and it's always good to stick close to an average.

But there's a problem. Here's how the problem goes: the most commonly used letter in English is the letter "E." If you wrote a ten word sentence, it would be much easier to use the letter E five times in that sentence than it would be to use, say, the letter Z five times. Letters aren't an even distribution. Neither are keywords. Big shock, huh?

Remember what I said earlier about not sounding awkward in your content? Well, the biggest thing about keyword density is that it must read well and sound very natural to a user. It's useless to get a page one ranking if your content is very lame. Like the letter E, some keywords are easy to use a lot of while still sounding natural. For instance, if your keyword was "grass" on a site about lawn care, it wouldn't be hard to use "grass" a lot.

But some keywords just don't lend themselves to being used a lot...like "quince" (it's a type of fruit). Here's the choice to be made: you can use an average range, which will work well most times, or you can spend time analyzing the top ten pages to find the best range for that particular keyword and be sure you're not trying to optimize for a Z or a quince.

Frustrated? Don't be! It isn't that hard. If you're still confused, check out a competitor's page in Google's cache (which highlights the keywords for you) to get a good visual feel for density.

Another good tip is to perform a "real person sanity check" on your content. Reading your optimized content out loud several times, and try to get a natural flow that will make the copy draw users who will come back. Then take a hard look at your content. If you can substitute a keyword for a pronoun without loosing your flow, do it.

For instance, if your keyword is "hammock", instead of a sentence saying, "I love to lie in it," say, "I love to lie in my hammock."

I hope you find this information helpful as you create your optimized AdSense cash cows!

About the author: Calvin is a self-proclaimed "Google Adsense guru", who rakes in loads of cash from AdSense optimized websites. Nassy

There are no guarantees in life, so I dont guarantee that following these tips will bring you more money every time. However, I do guarantee that they will greatly increase your chances of pulling more of the top-paying AdSense ads to your site than if you dont follow these suggestions.

Enough with the disclaimers, lets get down to the business of making money. Google lets advertisers bid anywhere from a minimum of .05 per click right up to a whopping $100. It should be pretty obvious that youre not going to get rich running .05 cent ads on your site, but getting a few $100 ads, or even some $10, $20, or $30 ads cant be a bad thing, right?

Now the problem is, Google is pretty closed-mouthed about who is paying what for their ads, and there is no real way to determine which words pay the most per AdSense click.

But ah, far away in a parallel universe we find another Pay-Per-Click provider called Overture. It seems that Overture is less sensitive about releasing their top-priced words and anyone who cares to find out what web sites are paying for words and phrases can do so by simply using Overtures tattle-tale special pricing tool (http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/). And it couldnt be easier to use. You simply type in a key word or phrase and the tool returns a list of advertisers using that word and how much they are paying. It even shows you the actual ad.

Oh what a treasure trove of wealth-grabbing results this can be if you know what can be done with that priceless information.

Consider this possibility

Any key word or phrase thats worth big bucks on Overture is probably worth big bucks on Google as well, maybe even more, right? So try this experiment:

Enter the phrase SEO Services without the quotes in the Overture tool (http://www.pixelfast.com/overture/). When I entered that phrase on the day I wrote this article, I was found a company called SEO Inc. that was willing to pay $8.01 per click, followed by SEO Advantage at $8.00, and Online Web Consultants at $6.50. Other bidders appeared below them in the $3.00 range straight on down to some who wouldnt pay more than a dime per click.

Now, if a company is willing to pay that much money for a click on Overture, it is probably willing to pay that or more on Google. Even if that particular company isnt advertising on Google, you can be pretty sure that the same key phrase is drawing near the same bid price from other companies who do advertise on Google. So what that means is there is no way that you can possibly afford NOT to have some web pages posted somewhere that are targeted to those sweet-paying words.

All you have to do is use Overtures pricing tool to find the highest-paying key words that are related to your site and then optimize those words to start pulling similar ads. If all goes to plan, you can perhaps double, triple, or even quadruple your AdSense revenue without needing any increase in traffic or click-through rate.

About the author: Diane provides marketing and internet profit tips. In fact, Yahoo has been cold calling members just to get an idea of how they feel about the program. Very impressive.

The user interface or control panel is simple and somewhat similar to AdSense. It offers channels (called tracking categories), numerous performance reports, and payment history. Another neat feature is that from the control panel, publishers can transfer funds from their YPN account to their Yahoo Search Marketing account.

As far as designing ads, users have full control over ad design and layouts. However, there are only ten ad types and nothing similar to AdSense link units as of now.

Now, the good stuff.

As far as earnings, most webmasters are reporting high earnings per click, in some cases four and five times more than that of AdSense. The earnings have caused quite the buzz within webmaster circles, but some speculate that Yahoo intentionally but temporarily launched the program with high earnings to draw from the AdSense publisher base. Time will tell, but earnings are definitely high.

High EPC is a perfect segue to the bad news: Targeting.

According to many publishers in the program, ad targeting, the program's ability to place ads relevant to your page, is challenged to put it mildly. The reason that targeting is so important is because targeting is the number one factor in how many site visitors click the ads also known as the clickthrough rate.

Sites that have been getting relevant ads are reporting tremendous earnings with YPN. Those without good targeting are getting less, but, interestingly, many are keeping YPN ads on the pages claiming that the higher EPC is compensating for the low CTR. On our site http://www.NJLawman.com, we have found this to be true.

Every site will be different. Testing, testing, and more testing will be the determining factor for your site, but we highly recommend that you sign up with YPN and give it a try.

AdSense is a trusted friend, but it's kind of nice to now have a choice.

Good luck, and good earnings!

About the author: Sean Labrock is a long-time small business owner and police officer with extensive experience in marketing. What is a Niche market you may ask? It is a topic that is more focused, and does not take the general aspect of a topic. You want to pick something that is out there, but is focused so you can get up there in search engines and build traffic to your site.

Want an example of a Blog with Niche Marketing?

Mesothelioma Info and Updates at http://mesotheliomainfoupdates.blogspot.com. This site taylors to Mesothelioma, a rare disease caused by Asbestos, and the site goes in depth about the Niche Market of "Peritoneal Mesothelioma". Asbestos would be more of a General Blog without Niche marketing, while drilling down to "Peritoneal Mesothelioma" is a niche market.

Another example of a blog that is not Niche Marketing is the Domain Names and Web Design Info blog at http://domainnamesatretail.blogspot.com. This blog is maintained in a general sense that it discusses topics from Web Design, Web Hosting and Domain Names to Money Making strategies. It is not focused to one single topic.

Once you have picked your Niche market, you have to find out if it pays well through advertising, and has actual advertisers willing to pay you to advertise the site!

The Overture bidding tool will tell you just that! Go to: http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/

Type in your niche market term, and it will tell you how much people on overture are willing to pay for each term. If it pays well, and is worth your while, then that will be your niche market you want to pursue.

Now you need to find the keywords you want to target and rank high for in Google. The suggestion tool located at will help you find just that: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/

Type in a keyword and it will show you what people search for and how many times per day. Pick a keyword that has a good daily search, but does not have too high of a number. This will allow you to have a fighting chance to cracking the top position for this search term. For example you may want something with about 100 searches per day.

Once you pick one, go to http://www.google.com, and search for that term and see how many results show up. If you have less than 1 million results, then that is ideal. Now take a look at the current #1 spot. See their page rank and how many links they have. If you think you can outrank them, then you are good to go. Target that keyword with your Niche market, and your site research is done.

Once you have the research complete, you set up a blog or web site.

To Set up a blog, go to one that I use Blogger at http://www.blogger.com. Set up your blog and begin posting in no time. This is a good and quick setup for getting your site started and getting searched by Google. However, your own site with its own domain name and hosting, tends to come up higher in search rankings. Also, having your own unique Blog Design as opposed to using a Blogger template, will help your site stand out from the rest. Emenki Web Solutions can provide you with such a custom template.

To set up your web site, purchase a domain name and web hosting. Download the Web Site Startup Handbook to learn more at http://www.domainsatretail.com/DomainsAtRetail.pdf. Then get free Blogging software and begin to run your site. Search on http://www.hotscripts.com to find Blogging software that you can use for Free.

Run your said Blog for about two weeks with at least 1-2 posts per day to develop enough content for search engines to consider placing you site in its rankings and for you to build traffic.

Once you have done this, set your site up for Google Adsense (http://adsense.google.com). Remember to follow the Google Adsense Terms of Service.

Once your site is approved for Google Adsense, place the AdSense code and begin to market your site through SEO software like Traffic Blazer (http://www.domainsatretail.com/trafficblazer.html) and One way Link Building Strategies!

Read up on SEO techniques to get your site to the top! In the first case, you already have a website and you simply put AdSense on the page to turn it into cash. You might change the content a little to influence the ads and you could make sure that you include the best keywords to bring you the highest revenues. You should certainly play with the way the ads look on the page to make them attractive and unobtrusive - and there's a huge range of different strategies you can use to do that.

Ultimately though, the content is there already. You're just using AdSense to turn the content you're going to create anyway into money - and you're going to use AdSense secrets to make those revenues as high as possible.

But lots of people also want to build a website from scratch for the sole purpose of cashing in on all the money available through AdSense. There's nothing wrong with that - provided the content is high quality.

This is crucial. Google doesn't take kindly to sites packed with keywords and all sorts of other garbage just to provide a space to put up an AdSense unit. There's a good chance they won't approve the site, and little chance, even if they did, that you'd get any click-throughs.

But that doesn't mean you have to really bust a gut to create the sort of website that brings you a small fortune in AdSense revenues. In my book, Google AdSense Secrets, I discuss in detail a number of different methods that you can use to create great content quickly and easily. Some of these methods cost a little money; some are completely free and still give you outstanding content. Whichever method you use though the important to remember is that your site has to have real content that people will genuinely enjoy reading. There's no point in trying to cut corners in creating content - and absolutely no revenue to gain.

For more Google AdSense tips, visit www.adsense-secrets.com

Copyright 2005 Joel Comm. The answer to all search engine related questions can be answered by these 4 words: Its in the keywords! Knowing what keywords your potential customers are looking for will get you more visitors and more sales. Its pretty simple when you look at it that way.

Its all in the keywords.

Imagine if you had a list of keywords that showed what advertisers are paying for each keyword. Would that help you establish what products to offer? Would that help you as a publisher? Absolutely!

Its all in the keywords: What to sell?

If you know that advertisers are paying top dollar in their pay per click campaigns for 'blue widgets', it stands to reason that either there is good money to be made selling them, or they are a popular product. If you have a website that is receiving traffic, this will help you to either expand your product offerings, or, to place more focus on an existing product that compliments 'blue widgets'.

Its all in the keywords: Adsense keyword lists

Most of us are Adsense publishers. Its a great way to monetize your website. You place the Adsense code, create some useful content, and people will click on your ads. Its that easy.

However, how do you increase Adsense revenue? Easier still: buy an Adsense keyword list. Adsense Heaven (http://www.Adsenseheaven.com) updates their keyword lists monthly and provides its customers with a comprehensive list of keywords that allow publishers to target their content around the higher paying keywords.

The key to making money from an Adsense keyword list is to make sure that your content is optimized for those keywords, and, most importantly, it gets the visitor interested in finding out more information about that topic. If the visitor loses interest, they are looking elsewhere. If they are interested, they will click!

Also, look for Adsense keywords that compliment your content. While insurance keywords pay out a lot, there is a lot of competition. Unless you have a lot of traffic coming to your site, you're unlikely to gain much by adding keywords about insurance. However, what if you added a life insurance section to a site for newborn parents? Your visitors looking for info about newborns may be prompted to reassess their life insurance needs. Who better to assist them further than your advertisers!

So, where to buy Adsense keyword lists? Adsense Heaven should be your first stop. Their Top 5000 Adsense Keyword lists provide users with a great snapshot of useful keywords. The site also provides lists up to the Top 40 000 Adsense Keywords, and can even create a customized keywords list tailored to the needs of your site. If you are looking for effective keywords, this is the place to look!

AdsenseHeaven.com answers the question about where to buy Adsense keyword lists

Remember: Its in the keywords. However, the evolution and growth of the Internet has hampered the growth of fortune making affiliate programs. Constant search engine algorithm changes, along with the search engine's clear distaste for sites participating in affiliate programs; have made it a little more difficult to earn a healthy affiliate revenue. An influx in the use of software programs that terminate cookie tracking and privacy programs that prevent webmasters from tracking referrers, have also hindered the affiliate sales channel. While it is still possible to make money through affiliate marketing, other alternatives ought to be considered.

A Healthy Alternative or Supplement Google's Adsense program allows approved websites to dynamically serve Google's pay-per-click Adword results. This has become a popular alternative and an effective revenue sharing program for webmasters. Google's spider parses the adserving website and serves ads that relate to the website's content. While the Google's Adsense program still has some issues, they are making efforts to improve it.

The website maintenance related to Adsense is very easy and requires very little effort. Webmasters need only to insert javascript into the webpage or website template. The javascript calls the ad from Google and will ensure that ads are served each time a visitor goes to the webpage. If the visitor clicks one of the Adsense ads served to the website, the website owner is credited for the referral.

The implementation, while simple, has its drawbacks. Google dictates the format of the ads. Webmasters can select from a handful of preformatted text boxes that lack creativity. A recent improvement allows webmasters to modify the ad boxes to resemble the website's color scheme. Still, a far cry from some of the creative ads webmasters are accustom to.

The example below reflects how the color scheme can be modified to match the look of the website, but the ads physically don't fit well into the overall website design.

sample modified to match sites color scheme: http://www.hospital-software.com (scroll to the bottom)

Google determines the content of the ads that are shown/ Sometimes the ads are poorly targeted, and of no interest to the website visitors.

sample of poorly targeted ads: http://www.real-estate-supply.com

Adwords can be a great addition to a website, and when well matched to the content the revenue stream from Google is consistent and effortless.

sample of effective Adsense program: http://www.police-supplies.com (scroll to the bottom) http://www.small-business-software.net (scroll to the bottom)

Not that the Google Adsense program is not without its problems.as the reporting provided by Google is lacking. Google has not implemented any way to track multiple sites that serve ads; they simply show the number of ads served, the percentage of clicks received, and the revenue earned each day. Google does not disclose the amount of the revenue they share, what percentage of the revenue they earn and what someone can expect to receive for each click. Webmasters with multiple sites will have difficulty determining which websites are producing the money in the Adsense program.

With affiliate programs many webmasters implement a new browser launch with each click off the site, Adsense removes the visitor from the website and there is not currently an option to launch the visitor into another browser.

Early on Google implemented a filtering system that allowed webmasters to prevent a specific domain's ads from being served on the website. Ad blocking meant that webmasters could prevent their competitors ads from being dynamically served on their website.

Overall, adwords are great supplements to websites where affiliate programs are either not performing or when affiliate programs don't exist that target the sites content.

Give it a Try Implementing and maintaing Google Adsense program on a content site requires very little effort and can often bring a steady stream of additional revenue for webmasters. Consider supplementing content and see what happens.

About the author: About the Author: Sharon Housley manages marketing for NotePage, Inc. http://www.notepage.net a company specializing in alphanumeric paging, SMS and wireless messaging software solutions. Adsense myths

Santa Claus, The Tooth Fairy and Mesothelioma? Adsense myths discussed. Author: Chuck Crawford

Everywhere I turn these days I'm seeing ads for websites being sold proclaiming that they've optimized that particular site for an outrageously priced keyword, such as Mesothelioma (a cancer of the lungs caused by asbestos). In fact, I'll bet that if you did a search at this very moment on EBAY, you would find at least one auction for such a website, probably claiming that you'll make thousands of dollars a month with it if purchased. But don't send them that Paypal payment just yet, you might want to read a little further.

In fact, some companies and law firms ARE paying upwards of $100 for specific keywords in the Adwords program, but that does not mean that you, as an Adsense publisher, will receive anywhere near this payout per click. In fact, you may end up being severely penalized and paid very poorly for that search phrase.

Let's do another search. Hop on over to Google and search the term "Mesothelioma". As of this writing, there are over 5 million results. Just a few months ago there were far less. All this tells me is that many believed the hype, and are now competing for a very small market. Won't they be surprised when they find out how much that click actually pays. I'll bet it's less than a buck.

Let's understand one thing. Google is smart. Period. They have spent a truckload of money in developing this program. And they have made BILLIONS from it. If you had something that was making you several billion dollars a year, wouldn't you work hard to protect the customers that were paying you? You can bet Google is, and they are watching your web traffic's quality closely. If you've put up a page that is worthless to the surfer, worthless to the advertisers, and just plain worthless overall, you will be penalized for it financially.

The fact of the matter is, there's a reason why advertisers are willing to pay an extreme cost per click for certain terms. It's just that there aren't very many searches for them. Some terms may only have 100 or less searches a month, internet wide! So these advertisers are willing to shell out the dough in order to get that tiny market.

But it's just not smart business for the little guy to chase these terms. There are a ton of terms out there that pay between $1 and $5 per click that are an absolute goldmine. For example, one of the terms on this site: http://www.thegiftedone.com does quite well for me. Does it pay in the triple digits? Of course not. But I'll take the smaller paying keywords every time. There are more searches overall for them, and more people actually looking for the content I have to offer. The result is clear. More clicks, more money.

My advice to you on this is simple. Quit chasing the myths, quit searching for that one word that's going to pay you $500 a click. Focus on building strong websites that are informative for the surfer, and more importantly, productive to your bottom line. Then build as many of them as you can. In time you'll see just how far a PPC program like Adsense can take you, but only if you work for it.

If you would like more information on Affiliate Websites and PPC programs like Adsense or Yahoo Publisher Network, I have set up a forum at http://www.affiliatewebsitedesign.com . Here, I have compiled detailed explanations to some common AdSense terms, facts, and performance tips.

Terminology

Real Stats (Figures based on actual performance tracking updated several times a day) Page Impressions: The number of times an ad unit (a collection of 1 to 4 ads). If you have two ad units on a page, then every time the page loads you get two page impressions. Page Impressions DO include PSA (Public Service Ads) and Alternate Ads. Clicks: The number of times someone clicks on an ad. Clicks on PSA will be included in this stat as well. Earnings: Money youve made.

Derived Stats (Figures calculated from the real stats) Clickthrough Rate: Clicks/Page Impressions. It is expressed as a percentage. Effective CPM:. Earnings per thousand page impressions. Calculated by 1000 X Earnings / Page Impressions EPC: Your EPC is not displayed because it does not really matter. EPC stands for Earnings Per Click (Earnings/Clicks) and is frequently talked about.

Facts (What we've discovered)

1. Stats Update Frequency/Delay: Although AdSense stats usually updates every couple hours, you dont need to panic at all if you see no change in your stats for over 12 hours. Even if other webmasters are seeing normal updates.

2. Dont worry about anomalies in your stats during the course of the day. These are not accurate. There could be delays in the update due to one reason or another. Only when you see figures for a new day can you know that the figures for the previous day are not going to change any more.

3. Sometimes the stats are carried forward several days. This happens when Google decides to freeze your clicks and earnings for fraud checking/tracking purposes or server delays. Thus, you may notice your earnings/clicks shoot straight up when you least expect it. It is possible for your CTR to go up by as much as 10% and your CPM to raise $200 over the normal.

4. The update on the different stats are not synchronized. For example, when you check your account, the page impressions may be freshed updated, while the clicks and earnings are from two hours ago. Thus, there may be a sharp drop/increase in the derived stats. Due to this, you dont need to fret over all these little bumps.

5. Often delays in updates foreshadow changes to the AdSense program. For example, slow updates preceded introduction of channels, TOS changes, and addition of new languages.

6. Channels are a great way for you to track the performance of your ad on a particular page/site. If you want to use the same code for all of your pages, you can also use the recently added URL channels. Of course, channel data are delayed by two days.

Performance Tips

1. EPC doesnt matter! That is because you have absolutely no control over your EPC. Your EPC is influenced by many variables including your webpage content, advertisers budget, seasonal fluctuations and more. Thus, the productive thing to do is concentrate on the factors that you have control over such as CTR and page impressions.

2. How am I doing? Many of us probably wonder how we are doing compared to other AdSense users, including myself. However, we really cant get a good sense of the average if Google doesn't disclose their figures, which they dont. Since people doing well with AdSense generally dont like to reveal their earnings due to the fear that they may be terminated by the program, any discussion about an average EPC/CTR/CPM is a waste of time.

3. From various experiments by myself and other webmasters, we can conclude (at least for now) that using image/text ads instead of just text ads will dramatically decrease you CTR because of various reasons. (i.e. fewer advertisers, banner blindness etc.) However, the EPC is usually slightly higher.

4. Blend in or stand out? This is completely site dependent. Sometimes, people will never click on your ads unless you trick them into doing so, although this is not so good for long term. Other sites will require your ad to scream in your visitors face to get good clicks. Do some extensive testing to find out whats good for your site.

5. Make good use of the URL filter feature. Blocking repetitive (eBay ads) or boring ads (free smilies) will definitely increase your CTR.

6. Large rectangles placed above the fold will often generate most revenue. However, this may not be a good long term solution since such and ad is usually obstrusive and have little aesthetic value.

7. If you run a forum site, you may notice that your earnings are very low. Here is a solution: use a simple cookie-based php script that only displays AdSense ads once every 10 page views -- essentially a counter counts down from 10 to 0 and on 0 displays an AdSense block. Between the AdSense ads, display regular banner ads. Although your AdSense page impressions may be down, you will notice your CTR skyrocketing, and a large increase in overall earnings.

In conclusion: Play around with your ad to maximize your performance, and look at the big picture in your stats!

About the author: Tony Zhu is the owner of an online business resource website, InaWhim.com, the largest free resource for the new and experienced home business owner. It enables you to monetize your sites easily and if used properly can generate a very healthy income. However, if you're not using it properly and maximizing the income you squeeze from it, your leaving money on the table something we all hate doing.

Boosting your return from Adsense can be done very easily and quickly, and you'll be amazed by the results.

I ran Adsense on my sites for over a year before I discovered these techniques, and like many people, I though I was doing pretty well. My clickthrough rates and CPM figures were very healthy, and I didn't honestly think that they could be improved a great deal. How wrong I was. Immediately after I implemented a few quick changes my clickthrough rate more than doubled, and by doing some fine tuning I manged to get nearly three times as many people to click on the ads as had been previously doing so.

The first technique is one that was 'discovered' by the amazingly helpful Debs, on SIteSell's SBI! forums. When I read it originally, it made sense and I decided to goive it a go, but I wasn't prepared for the immediate impact it would have on my income. It involves making only a few simple changes to the format and positioning of your Adsense ads.

Firstly, forget about using banners or skyscrapers. These ad formats are almost universally ignored by surfers. Why? Because we've all been conditioned to recognise a skyscraper or banner as an advert and as these adverts are rarely of any interest, we ignore them. What's needed is a way of integrating Adsense ads into the editorial on your site as seamlessly as possible. To do this you need to do three things:

1. Use the 250 x 250 rectangle format 2. Make the background color of the ad the same as the background color of your site, or as close to it as possible. 3. Make the ads borderless by setting the border color to be the same as the background color of the ad.

These changes can be made by logging into your Adsense account and creating a custom format. Just select the 250 x 250 ad format, and create a custom color palette. Use the color picker to pick the coor you want. The Javascript is automatically generated at the foot of the page, ready for you to copy and paste into the pages on your site.

Now, you need to position your ads where surfers are most likely to click on them. Research using retina scanning technology has shown that the place that surfers tend to look at first and most often is the top left. I don't know the reasons for this, perhaps it's because that's where we're used to seeing the most useful search engine results (at the top of the rankings) and search engines are the sites we most often visit, so we automatically look at the same place on other sites.

Whatever the reasoning, as soon as I made the above changes to my Adsense ads, clickthrough rates doubled, immediately.

The second technique is much newer and one which is entirely based on my own experience. Google has recently added a new type of Adsense format, called Adlinks. This displays a series of links on your page in the same style of Ad unit as regular Adsense ads. When a user clicks a link they are taken to a page of adverts that resembles regular Google search results. As a publisher, you are paid every time a user clicks one of those ads.

Adventurous soul that I am, I jumped in with both feet and started to trial Adlinks on my most visited pages as soon as it was launched. I'm using the four links in a square box format, positioned top left of my page content. After a few weeks of running Adlinks alongside regular Adsense ads, it's clear that the return on Adlinks is about a fifth to a quarter higher than regular ads. There's no clear reason for this but one explanation may lie in the fact that clicking on an Adlink takes the user to page of 'results'. When a user clicks on one of these, you are paid for the click. If the user finds what they want, great, if not, it seems that they hit the Back button on their browser and try again, just as you would for normal search engine results. Then they click on another result, and you get paid again. So it's possible to be paid more than once from the same Adlink click. Now, this reasoning is speculative, but it does make perfect sense in the light of my Adlinks results.

Finally, Adsense has some excellent tracking statistics that allow you to track your results across a number of sites on a site by site, page by page, or just about any other basis you choose. This is a very powerful tool and you should use it to find out which ads are performing best for you and fine tune your Adsense and Adlink ads accordingly.

So you see, by spending an hour or so of your time making a few adjustments to the Adsense ads on your sites, you can very quickly treble your Adsense income. Give it a go, you'll be amazed by the results.

About the author: Kenny Hemphill is the editor and publisher of The HDTV Tuner and has been running Adsense ads for two years.

Relevant Ads Increase Adsense Profits

If youve started using Adsense as a way to increase advertising income, but the numbers just arent adding up to what you expected, the problem might be with the ads themselves. If the ads being generated by Googles Adsense arent relevant to your website, visitors wont click on them. And, no click-y, no money. Its that simple. And its a simple situation to fix.

One way to know if the ads are working is to monitor the click-through-rate (CTR) on a page. If its low, its usually an indication that once a visitor arrived at your page using a certain keyword, that visitor did not find any ads relevant to that keyword. And unfortunately for you, the visitor found no reason to click on the ads.

How do I know this? It happened on my website. On one of my sites, I had a page dedicated to PHP programming (a programming language). The page had a low CTR. Upon further examination of the page, I noticed that not one of the ads was related to programming or even to technology.

What I did notice was that the ads were related to guitars. Guitars? I thought to myself, What relevance do guitars have to PHP programming? And I imagined visitors to my site wondered this as well.

After studying the ads, I noticed that one word seemed to keep jumping out at me. The word was strings as in guitar strings. Well strings are used in programming too, but Google was not able to make this distinction which is why it was generating guitar ads!

The solution to this problem was simple. I removed from my webpage the words string and strings (or I just used another word in place of string or strings). After Google found this page again and updated its view of it, the guitar ads were replaced with relevant ads. And best of all? CTR on this page immediately increased and so did my advertising income!

If you have a page with a low CTR, you may need to tweak your text so Adsense generates ads that are more relevant to the page. When making these types of changes to your webpages, use the same ideas you use for search engine optimization. Why?

Because Google uses the same logic to determine the appropriate Adsense ads to display on your page as it does to determine if your article should rank high for blue widgets.

Some areas on your page that might need a bit of text tweaking include:

- The title of the page - The H1-tags used in the page - The number of occurrences of the keywords in the text of the article - Changing the filename (this can be very effective, but only do this for new pages that are not yet in the search engines or you risk losing traffic)

One word of advice: Dont forget that your keywords determine your search engine rankings so take small steps when changing keywords.

And remember, the only ads that will bring you the extra Adsense income youre looking for are relevant ads!

About the author: Bas de Baar is the author of the e-book "Analyzing Adsense For Niche Websites." Needless to say I'll be spending sometime making changes to my Adsense ads across my network of sites.

What is it? Sorry, can't resist a little intrigue.

It's very simple.

Using the Adsense Leaderboard banner 728 x 90 I added small images/photos above each ad at 140 x 100.

These photos are broadly related to the ads and draw the eye of the visitor to the ad. Which the ad alone maybe would not do. Once the eye is drawn your visitor will be much more likely to read the ad text below the image and in turn they'll be more inclined to click.

Google already knows of this tactic and I know a number of people have approached them via email before implementing the images. Obviously nobody wants their account suspended. The good news is Google are fine with it, for now at least. Although a few warnings have gone out with regard to animated images not being appropriate. So no Flash or animated gifs!

You can view this in action on one of my sites - http://www.how-to -make-money-online.info

You can't fail to see it at the top of the page.

Now I hope this is new information to you. If so I know it's going to be damn useful. :) And most of all profitable!

The benefit of this over Google's own Adsense 'image ads' is that you choose the image for one and the basic text ad appeals for another. As I'm sure you are aware text ads work better than image ads. Combining them together in this way seems to work btter than either one of them would alone.

There's also a major boost in the fact that you are able to select the most relevant image for your site content and current Adsense ads.

About the author: Darren Yates is the owner of http://www.how-to -make-money-online.info a site about Making Money Online and Internet Marketing.

You are free to reprint and distribute this article as you like. They are the backbone of the internet, and therefore, the backbone of your website. If you are not creating content with keywords that users are searching for, your site will see no traffic. If you don't target high paying keywords, you'll never make any money with pay per click advertising programs such as Google Adsense.If you do a search for keywords, you'll see sites that sell keyword lists. The competition is fierce, with each competitor offering larger and larger keyword lists. I've purchased a keyword list before, and found it quite helpful for my clients sites. While it was interesting to note what keywords advertisers were willing to pay big bucks for, its not surprising that these same keywords draw a lot of competition. You'll need a big advertising budget, or a lot of inbound links to garner much traffic.

However, further down the list, the topics get more varied, and that is where the keyword list gets interesting, and several potential themes for a new site pop up.

However, what if your site already enjoys traffic and has a theme already in place?

What you need is a customized keyword list. Need new content ideas? These custom keyword lists help direct successful sites towards keywords that are both popular and are higher paying.

For one of my clients, it was simply a matter of exchanging the word investor with the word trader which made all the difference. They created a whole section on foreign exchange trading, as well as technical analysis to target higher paying keywords, and directed their current high level of traffic to that part of the site. As a result, the site enjoyed an increase in page views and adsense revenue.

If you have a successful site, a keyword list of 50 000 keywords wont help you target new and original content like a list of 500 keywords that are specific to your sites theme.

Its not surprising that insurance themed keywords are the highest paying. There is a lot of money to be made insuring people.

However, with competition so fierce, unless you have a large advertising budget, you will find it difficult to drive traffic to your site. Personally, I would rather target keywords that pay even $1 and get lots of traffic, than to target a $50 keyword and get no traffic.

With that in mind, John from AdsenseHeaven told me of a client who bought a targeted keyword list about cooking. The client wasn't happy about getting what appeared to be lower paying adsense revenue. With some tweaking of their menu, the site started to target the healthy aspects of their recipes, since the custom keyword list indicated that advertisers were paying for keywords dealing with health and dieting. Almost immediately, their click through rate (CTR) went up, and more importantly, the amount per click went up.

If you have an existing site, you owe it to yourself to consider purchasing a customized keyword list. AdsenseHeaven.com (http://www.adsenseheaven.com) has a growing number of customized keyword lists. If you dont see one that goes with the theme of your site, contact them to request a customized list. You'll be surprised at the number of opportunities to increase your adsense revenue.

About the author: Christopher Smith writes for Northern Source web design, which specialized in small business web design

Can You Choose Your AdSense Ads?

AdSense delivers great click-throughs and high revenues for one reason: the ads are targeted to what the user wants. Google's robot picks out keywords on your page, gets a grip on what your website is about and delivers links that take users to sites that interest them.

That's great news... up to a point. As much as you want your users to click on ads that look interesting, you might not want to trust to a robot to pick those ads - and you might prefer to have ads on your page that pay the highest amount possible for each click.

But you don't get the choice. You can do lots of things to improve your AdSense revenue, from selecting the layout of your ad unit to choosing the color and size of the font, but one thing you can't do is slip into Google's database and choose the ads. If you could do that, no one would ever choose the low-paying ads.

That doesn't mean you can't do anything at all though. The fact is, some smart publishers have been noticing all sorts of interesting results after playing with their HTML code and changing some of the text on their Web page. And some of those results have been very surprising indeed.

For example, some publishers have found that placing keywords in certain positions on the page can have an immediate effect on the ads served. The owner of a site about recreation vehicles then would be able to do a little research online to find the highest paying keywords in his area and then - if he knew where those hotspots were - he could place those keywords in the right areas on the page. In addition to the usual ads about camper vans and RV's that his site would receive, the publisher could be certain that at least one of the ads was the highest paying possible. That's the sort of knowledge that's worth money in your pocket.

Why some areas of a Web page should be more important than others is a mystery well kept by Google's programmers. But some of Google's ad secrets are leaking out - and they're being snapped up by smart publishers who understand that knowledge and strategy are the key to massive AdSense revenues.

For more Google AdSense tips, visit www.adsense-secrets.com

Copyright 2005 Joel Comm. Oh no I said it!

AdSense isn't the unstoppable revenue engine for every eBusiness. Before I am taken out and flogged by the eCommerce pundits -- please let me explain what I mean in my defense.

I make revenues from AdSense at a very high click-through rate. I experience high click-through rates with AdSense without resorting to questionable tactics like tricking site users with photos (the AdSense trick and tip dujour).

So my perspective is from one who has made decent income from AdSense to fund aspects of his business like advertising seminars -- and outsourcing to his virtual assistants. Yes, AdSense is a legitimate and significant revenue source. However evaluate AdSense with some type of balance.

By now you may have heard about people like Joel Comm's six figure income with AdSense, or Jason Calacanis of Weblogs being on his way to generating 1 million dollars in AdSense revenue. Google's Ad revenue sharing affiliate program for publishers certainly seems to be an eSales Nirvana for many webmasters.

But there are obvious and not so obvious times not to use AdSense ads on your sites. Let's list - examine - and explain them below.

~~~~> 1. On Sales or Mini-sites
This is a no-brainer. If you are trying to sell a particular product that is important to your bottomline, you don't want AdSense ads distracting your customers from either joining your email list, or hindering your site's online sales process.
However I do see hybrid sites that are mini-sites or full scale eCommerce sites, with AdSense at the bottom of their pages. This might not be so bad since only 1% - 15% of your site visitors will either buy from you or fill out a form.
The thinking with this approach is you might as well make money from disinterested parties using up your server's bandwidth.
~~~~~> 2. SEO Business Sites

If your livelihood depends on search engine optimization or marketing for a living you might want to think twice about displaying AdSense Ads on your site. I can tell you this from personal experience. I once was on top of MSN for search engine marketing in my local area. I concentrated on my local area because I found people felt more comfortable hiring an eCommerce consultant locally.

One day my site fails totally out of the MSN index. After intense study I noticed that I obviously had a filter on my site from MSN.

I analyzed all the top ranking sites in MSN and noticed the only difference between me and the other top ranking sites was I had Google AdSense ads on my site. Someone at MSN felt that my AdSense ads, and perhaps to a less extent, my book on SEO, was getting a free ride in the MSN search engine database.

In fact I noticed that there were no sites with AdSense ads for at least the first 3 pages. Plus the sites with AdSense were only using 1 ad unit at the bottom of the home page (there were very few of them in the top 5 pages).

I knew it was strange to not have AdSense ads on the top Internet marketing sites. This prompted me to scan other industries where I noticed the same trend.

Many of the leading SEO gurus have sites that have been banned from the top listings by the search engines. It seems the more visible you become, the more of a target your sites are to the search engine auditors.

Some of my sites are still on the top of MSN with AdSense ads but that doesn't mean they won't also be targets in the future.

Let's face the facts. MSN and Yahoo! have competing ad networks to Google's, and this competitive situation is rife for a potential backlash against SEO sites with AdSense ads.

Many SEOs will point to exceptions to this position. However you have been warned!

Think about it, how long will MSN and Yahoo! sit back and watch SEO driven websites use their search indexes to fund Google? Did you know SEO in MSN and Yahoo(!) --- is much easier to obtain.

Therefore optimized sites are creating an ad sales wealth transfer from MSN and Yahoo into the pockets of Google! It won't be long before Yahoo! and MSN begin to devalue ranking on AdSense sites in their databases -- if not outright ban them.

If you are in the search engine business stay search engine neutral, or create multiple sites for different search engines.

~~~~~> 3. When AdSense Becomes Your Only Business Model
When you become so myopic in your thinking that you build a business solely on AdSense revenue -- think again my friend. Why build a business solely on the largess of Google?
I don't know if your realize it or not, but the sites making the real big AdSense money usually have a following that doesn't depend on the search engines. Internet mavens like Chris Pirillo or Joel Comm have been on the Internet a while and have followings for their websites. Therefore they can consistently make six figures with AdSense.
These content powerhouses are an asset to Google and not the other way around. But do you think Google is going to sit back and watch just anybody make big bucks off of their top rankings?
If you do a search on most keywords you will notice many of the top ranking sites are news sites, .gov sites, or .org sites these days. The only exception is in industries where these sites don't really exist like eCommerce industries (clothing, shopping, etc.).
No doubt in most industries you will notice a conspicuous scarity of AdSense sites in the top rankings. In other words don't bet your future fortunes on AdSense.
An IPO based on projections of AdSense revenue isn't in the future for the average eBusiness. Think of Google AdSense as supplemental income. Building a business solely on AdSense revenue isn't just silly -- it's just plain stupid.
About the author: Kamau Austin is the publisher of over ten websites. Keep reading, and you'll be ready to make your first $100 in a matter of one week. (This is the minimum amount before a paycheck for Google is sent).
It doesn't matter if you have a regular Website, a Blog or a Discussion Forum type of page....AdSense ads will fit nicely. I will point out however that forums typically do NOT bring in alot of dollars, despite the influx of traffic. Keep that in mind when deciding what kind of site you intend to start with.
As there are literally millions of Blogs out there covering the gamut of topics, the likelihood of you re-inventing the wheel or breaking new ground is nil. Don't waste your time coming up with a fancy new "gadget" blog, or "mesothelioma" branded site. There are others that jumped on top of that bandwagon from the start and have an insurmountable lead on you. Besides, even the supposed "highest-paying keywords" have diminished due to advertisers getting wise and Google working with them to institute different pricing plans.
Let's start with some simple things you can do right now.
1. Acquire a domain name to match your "niche"
2. Create something simple to get the ball rolling so you can get out of Google's "sandbox" relatively quickly- you can add content as you like, but you must get your player on the field if you are going to play.
3. Make your Home Page the focal point of your site. Forums and gimmicks can be added later. You need a presense at this point, not the coolest new flash game to offer nobody. Speaking of Flash...leave the exciting entry pages for amateurs...you are about to become a professional. We don't play in that arena, do we? No...we don't. Not now, not ever.
4. Look at the top of the search engines when typing in your preferred keywords. Look at the websites objectively, act as if you are there for the info it provides and decide if your desires were satisfied by visiting them. What would you do differently, if you didn't see what you were looking for? TAKE NOTES. Apply the changes to YOUR new website, but do NOT copy the content directly from any other sites. This is your first dance, don't subject yourself to ridicule or worse right out of the gate.
5. Get a Site Counter. There are many free ones out there. Pick one, anything will do as you can change it later. You'll begin to see where your visitors are coming from and use the information for tweaking.
Well...you have much work to do right now! We'll get you squarely on your way to making BIG BUCKS with the next article in a day or two.
In the meantime..... Whereas in the past advertising revenue was reserved for those sites with large a coming and going of visitors, now even teenagers are making a quick buck with their online hobby blogs. People place adsense on their online family photo albums, their blogs and their business sites. The minimum you would get, even with a small amount of traffic, is for adsense to pay for your hosting costs.
Adsense revolutionized the world of paid advertising; banner advertising is based on the number of visitors you attract to your site, so the number of banner impressions dictate the revenue you receive. Google Adsense is quite different; it is the number of visitors that actually click on the advertising that determine how much you earn.
There is also a great disparity between payouts; because advertisers bid up the price for certain keywords, some ads pay more than others. As such, a site with few visitors but expensive keywords in their google ads can potentially still pull in a hefty payout.
Google really has taken the web by storm; attracted to passive income, more and more people are seriously capitalizing on their Google adsense advertising. Some of the highest earners manage to attract enough visitors to make a four figure monthly income, just from using adsense alone! This is not one of those get-rich-quick schemes and Googles adsense success is largely thanks to the fact that Google already enjoyed a fantastic reputation before introducing the program. They are a publicly traded company with physical headquarters. This, and the fact that anyone can apply to use adsense for free, has caused millions of people to sign up. For google it was a smart move, because now they extend their presence to countless websites and generate millions of dollars in advertising revenue. People were never reluctant to sign up, because the program is free. Google benefits by more people using adsense, so offering it for free was the best thing they could do.
One of the driving forced behind the program are its relevance to each and every page on a website; the program picks up keywords appearing in the website copy and automatically displays relevant ads. This increases the chances of people clicking through, and the webmaster collecting more revenue.
People are leveraging their income by operating several websites and attempting to attract as many targeted visitors as possible; in many instances we can observe that people work hard at a site, then once it is established they can largely leave it alone, yet still collect significant checks.
A major concern for entrepreneurs was the danger of a competitors ads showing up on their site; thanks to the adsense feature where it only displays relevant advertising. However this problem was solved by offering webmasters the option of filtering out unwanted ads. They can submit the URL of the competing site in their account, and any ads from the website will be blocked.
Google recently came out with a new feature: small targeted keywords based on the sites content are displayed; then as people click on those, a page opens showing a variety of pay-per-click ads based on that keyword. This gives webmasters the chance of displaying more advertising in less space.
Adsense also adds creditability to your website; the more focused the content, the better the ads will be and this encourages people to built high quality websites. These make the net a better place and generally provide a free service; site owners can afford to share their expertise or passions because they can receive indirect revenues. The visitor does not pay for the information; instead the advertisers do, making the websites existence possible in the first place.
It is no surprise Google adsense is the most widely used form of advertising; they have created a program that is beneficial to both advertisers and users with their no click no pay mechanism, or more popularly called pay-per-click. Advertisers do not pay for ads that are not drawing visitors, and website owners are paid more for each click than they would if the system were based on the number of people viewing the ads, instead of clicking on them.
All in all Google adsense has developed itself into a powerful tool, used by large corporations and the kid next door. They have truly revolutionized how the web thinks about advertising and made the process more profitable for site owners, while less costly for advertisers.
About the author: Matt Bacak, The Powerful Promoter and Entrepreneur Magazine e-Biz radio show host, became a "#1 Best Selling Author" in just a few short hours. Did that actually work for anyone? Chances are most will say no. Didn't work for me either. Not only did I not make an extra buck, I didn't even make an extra penny. In fact, even my site mrcgiguy.com (shameless plug), which receives around 500 unique visitors a day does not produce particularly good results from affiliate programs. The bottom line is, most affiliate programs won't work for most web sites. Vague, I know. But from my experience, unless your audience is very general, you'll need to find affiliate programs that are very specific to your niche in order to produce even the slightest result. Though, these days, even well targeted affiliate programs don't seem to produce much.
Like myself, most modern day web developers have opted not to join affiliate programs and have instead turned to ad networks such as FastClick, TribalFusion, Burst, etc. I joined FastClick since it was said to have the highest CPM rates. And for a long while, I was pretty happy with the results. I was able to make a breath-taking 50 cents a day. Yes, I was happy with that. I wasn't expecting millions...reality sank in long ago...somewhere between the days of being an "Amazon affiliate" and having my job dissolved after the dot.com crash. So, 50 cents a day, or an approximate $15.00 a month was great. Every bit helps when you're self employed.
Now let me get to the point. Forget about affiliate programs! Forget about the ad networks (or at least reduce them to being a secondary form of ad revenue)! Google's AdSense is where it's at! What was once offered only to the largest of the web, is now available to those of us running smaller niche sites. And how could there be any form of advertising cooler than one that uses your own content to determine which ads to display? I mean, this is what we've all been waiting for. This is the answer. Highly targeted ads, non-intrusive, routinely shuffled to maintain freshness, and they pay well. And when I say pay well, I mean, the potential exists to make in one day what I had previously been making in an entire month via FastClick. While, I'm not allowed to discuss any particular figures (part of the agreement in using AdSense), I will say that it's not even been a month now, and I've already made more from AdSense then I made in the entire duration of running ads for FastClick. Needless to say, I've waived bye bye to ad networks and affiliate programs.
Don't get me wrong, AdSense is not perfect. There are some things that could definitely be done to improve the system. One of the biggest gripes I have, and I've noticed others with the same opinion, is the overall lack of tracking. It sure would be great to know which ads are being clicked and how much those ads are producing. But at the same time, I can understand why that information may be counter-productive for Google. The lack of control over the border color and link color is a bit undesirable too. All other factors aside, the purpose of the ads is to make some extra money. On this point, Google's AdSense are definitely successful and in my humble opinion should immediately replace any current 468x60 or skyscraper ads you are running via ad networks or affiliate programs.
The future for affiliate programs and ad networks has become very bleak. It's going to be very interesting to see how AdSense matures, as the initial product is already undeniably far better than said competition.
About the author: Mike Ramirez is a freelance web developer and is best known in the web community as Mr CGI Guy. Then Optimize Site Navigation
Webmasters know that Adsense generates a sizeable source of additional advertising income. Thats why theyre using it to go after the high paying keywords. Theyve bought the lists that tell them what these keywords are and theyve used various other methods of identifying them. And yet, after putting up these high paying pages on their websites, the advertising money they expected to see isnt rolling in. Whats wrong?
Well, having those pages is one thing. But driving visitors to those pages is an entirely different thing and is often whats lacking. To get visitors to your high paying keyword pages, youve got to optimize site navigation.
Take a moment to think about how visitors use your website. After landing on a certain page, theyll often click to another page that sounds interesting. They get there by way of the other links that appear on the page they landed on. How you enable visitors to move about your website is what is meant by the term, Site Navigation.
A typical website has a menu of links on each page. The wording on these links is what grabs a visitors attention and gets them to click on one of the links that will take them to another page of your website. Links labeled Free Resources or Download ebooks are generally good attention-grabbers.
This same site navigation logic applies to driving traffic to your high paying pages. I have some pages on my website that get a lot of traffic from search engines, but the earnings on these pages are very low. I use cleverly-labeled links to get visitors off these pages and onto my higher earning pages. Its a great and inexpensive way to turn cheap clicks into real dollars.
Ready, Set, Test
Before you begin testing, youve got to have two things: something to track and compare; and some high earning pages you want to funnel your site traffic to. For fast results, select a few of your highly visited pages.
Next think of ways to get visitors viewing a particular page to click on a link to one of your high earning pages. Thatll help you come up with a catchy description for the link. And remember, you can use graphics to grab your visitors attention. Be creative!
And remember, its all about location, location, location. Once youve come up with the attention-grabbing description, youve got to identify the perfect spot on your page for positioning the descriptive link to your high paying page.
Spend some time visiting other websites to see how theyre maximizing site navigation. For example, using a Hot Pages list or a Most Read Articles list are common menu selections.
Then let the testing begin. Try putting different text on different pages. That way youll get a feel for what works and what doesnt. Mix things up a bit  put links on the top of the page and the bottom.
Its now all a matter of testing and tracking, and testing and tracking until you find the site navigation setup that works best!
<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://ghofar-me.blogspot.com/2007/03/want-higher-adsense-earnings-then.html' title='Want Higher Adsense Earnings? Another day of making nothing or just pennies.
More so when you continue to read about those guys making five figure monthly incomes from Google Adsense every day. Google Adsense terms and conditions require that earnings are kept secret. Still some of these guys claim that they obtained special permission to spill the beans. One of them recently revealed that they had made $45,000 in just one month. Perusing through the statement, there were single days where they made as much as 800 bucks. Can you imagine that?
Sorry, it is not my intention to make you feel worse than you already are so I will stop there and get on with my findings.
This article is based on my investigative journalism skills. Yep, some of us are still using skills we acquired years ago from our offline days. My objective was to find out as much as I could about what these top earners were doing different from the rest of us.
High Adsense Earners Do Exist
But first I had to establish whether these high earners existed at all. After all anybody can get online and tell all sorts of lies about anything. My investigations started off trying to separate the hype from the facts which is an almost-impossible task these days. I have read several articles by sceptics which clearly state that most of these so-called high earners do not exist.
Well the truth is that despite the high number of hype peddlers out there, these guys are for real.
Without disclosing too much about some of my sources whom I intend to use in the future and can therefore not disclose, there are several pieces of evidence that point not only to their existence, but to their growing numbers.
The first is the amazing pace at which Google earnings from this business is growing. Check any top affiliate program and compare their figures to Google Adsense and you will begin to see what I mean. Google is a public company and their figures from earnings are widely available.
Adsense Keywords Do Matter
High traffic is important and effective online traffic tools are well known. They include for example PPC ads, including the very same Adsense ads. Articles are increasingly important because when it comes to traffic, the numbers are not enough, the quality of the traffic is also very important.
But the absolutely critical factor in achieving high Adsense earnings is not traffic. It is actually the keywords used. With the difference in earnings from a click ranging from a fraction of a penny to $100, you can begin to appreciate what we are saying here.
This is the reason why almost everybody else is selling those lists online these days.
My investigations unearthed evidence that those top earners are constantly researching new keywords. They spend a lot of time doing that (more time than they spend doing anything else) and to pay for some of their wasted efforts (every genuine research effort will have plenty of that) some of them are peddling the lists that they have graduated from or do not need anymore. Before you get upset please remember that this is standard business practice. A smart entrepreneur always minimizes on wastage of any kind.
Generally there are some keyword topics that pay more than others. To give you just two examples, health and electronics generally score much higher across the board than other areas of interest in terms of high earning keywords. The top earners are using this information
Hire an Adsense Expert
This is the most amazing aspect my research unearthed.
About the author: Christopher Kyalo is an experienced ghostwriter who writes quality articles designed to attract the highest paying Google Adsense ads, and at dirt-cheap rates. Affiliate marketing programs are best alternatives to those who are sick and tired of their arduous daily work just to climb up the venerated corporate ladder. You don't need products to sell, you just have to market them in your own web site and you don't have to worry about processing the customers' payments and the shipment of the products. If you are already into affiliate marketing, probably you were thinking about these benefits, too, before deciding to join an affiliate program.
Of course you want earn huge amounts of commission. That's what you are marketing for in the first place, right? Keep in mind, however, that affiliate marketing cannot guarantee you instant success if you don't work on it. There are a lot of ways of maximizing your income. The Internet is a huge library of information, use it to learn of other opportunities and ways to increase your income. You can partner with several merchandisers and promote different products in your website; thereby, increasing your chance to earn a commission.
[If you are posting this article on your website, you have permission from All Natural Cures to add your affiliate program links to this section. Remove the information in these brackets before publishing to your website.]
The easiest way for you to rev up your revenue potential is by incorporating Google AdSense into your marketing campaigns. What is Google AdSense? What are its advantages? How can it boost my revenues? These are some of the questions you might want to ask. Let's try to probe into Google AdSense, so you would know how it could help you in your affiliate marketing program.
Merchants place their ads in Google, which is one of the most popular search engines or tools for locating various resources in the World Wide Web. Now the Google AdSense program allows you to display these ads in you website and when your visitors click through them, you earn. The advertiser, which is the merchant pays Google for every click-through made by the customer and you as a partner of Google, gets a share from that payment.
What's great about the Google AdSense is that the ads are relevant to the content of your web page. Most likely, visitors of your web site are interested on the theme of your site and specifically, on the content of your web page. So, seeing ads related to their interest would definitely drive them to click through the link or the ad. Using state-of-the-art technology, Google scans your web site and matches the content of your pages to their large database of advertisers; this way, Google is able to find ads that are targeted by the users of your site. In addition, Google changes the ads in your site as you change the content of your pages, so you can always expect the ads to be relevant to your site.
Having Google ads in your website is also a way of convincing your users to return to your site. Repeat customers multiply your income without having to exert extra effort to convince them again to click through your links. And your potential to earn doesn't depend on them alone. Since you already have their confidence, they can be your endorsers as well. They could refer your site to family and friends who probably share the same interests with them.
Advertisers in the Google AdSense program range from large international brands to small-time domestic and local businesses, so the targeted market for the ads can range as well. This adds variety to your site; thereby, attracting different kinds of users. As you attract more users, you increase your earning potential as well. If you are targeting a specific nationality for your site users, don't worry because AdSense can be used in different languages.
In order to boost your revenues through Google AdSense, you must pay attention to making web pages of high value topics. Make contents related to high-paying ads, so you can earn more. Some ads pay only a few cents while some ads pay you dollars just for a single click. You would need to do a little research on this so you can come up with a more relevant content. Join affiliate marketing forums and get tips from experienced affiliate marketers.
Becoming an AdSense affiliate marketer is easy and fast. You just have to apply online and once your application is approved, you can instantly set up Google ads in your site. All you need to do is copy and paste some codes in your web pages and in no time the ads will appear in your site.
Strike while the iron is hot! Take advantage of the favorable circumstances the Internet is offering you. Now, is it just me or is something a little odd in all this?
Say, I'm making $5000 - no make that $15,276 a month from AdSense on my sites. And now I'm going to sell all my secrets on how to do that for $67 or $97 or whatever.
So what happened, did I get all bored with my filthy riches and decide to become a philanthropist and sell stuff that makes me 15K a month for a pittance? Or is it something else?
Am I saying it's impossible? Certainly not. I know people who make that more.
But a little reality. Those people don't have 5 or 6 or 50 sites. They have maybe 500 or 3000 or more. Few sites make 20 or more a day. Very few. Average income is probably less than a dollar a day. So with 500 sites at a dollar a day, you've got your 15K a month.
Now the domain names cost you maybe $3500 to $4500. Then you need hosting and somehow you've got to build the sites and get traffic to them. There are excellent tools but the ones that will let you do this kind of thing in a reasonably short time are also very (very) expensive.
And you are continually dealing with sites that don't get indexed or get de-indexed or even get banned. Traffic today, gone tomorrow. Plus, if you're not real careful with those tools you may get an unpleasant letter from Google about a DMCA copyright infringement which could cost you your AdSense account.
You can make money, you can build an empire. But it isn't easy or quick no matter what you hear. And it really isn't a business. It's not a long run proposition, it's not stable. You need to keep creating more sites as older ones fail - or you need to be smart and use those AdSense revenues to build an enduring business.
You put up with this down to here, so here are the real 7 "secret" keys to AdSense.
1. The best performing AdSense type is the large rectangle. This has been tested over and over.
2. The best colors are blue for the link - surfers know that blue means click me. And darkish almost black and grey for the text and url. No borders. The same background as your page. Will it merge into your content? No, that's bogus. There are maybe 4 surfers in this galaxy who can't tell a Google ad when they see one. They are not going to believe it's part of the text. Wake up, OK?
3. Another format which is being reported to more or less work is the full wide banner type layout with text ads and images directly above the links. Try it and see if it works for you. Maybe it's a fad.
4. Keywords and related content are critical if you want targeted ads. If you want high paying clicks you need to target the costly keywords AND have content that supports the keywords.
5. You need traffic interested in the ads. Which means your traffic generation techniques have to be targeted not scattershot. You might hear that 1% or 1.5% clickthrough rate is OK and 3% is good. Nonsense. Really successful people get CTRs that are often well above 30%. Even with modest efforts you should be getting an average 6 to 15% CTR (per ad impression, not pages).
6. You have to track what you're doing and you have to test variations in ad layout, placement, color and related content to optimize your income. No one can tell you how to do it except the traffic coming to your site. If you don't test and track, you're flying blind.
7. You need to keep building new sites.
You are now a member of the AdSense Illuminati. Quite possibly you already knew all that. So why are you looking for something else? Really. This is all you need to start doing it.
Probably any course or book can help you if that's what it takes to get you moving and doing. Ultimately, no one can really show you exactly how to do it. You're going to have to learn the ropes and put in the time.
Like everything in life - the greatest traffic generator, the ultimate course or the super MLM opportunity, if it sounds too good to be true, then it is. There's no magic bullet, no ultimate secret to buy. There's no easy, painless, work free, certain road to riches (except, maybe, inheriting it and that can be very hard on the heirs).
Whatever you do on the net, do it wide awake and with your brain actually functioning. The final un-numbered key is that a technique, a shortcut, an idea that will make what you do easier, faster, or more profitable - one single tiny thing - is worth more than any book or course costs. One useable idea and you've gotten a great deal. If you learned something you didn't know or had forgotten, then it's worth much more than you paid. There may not be any magic solution out there, but there are useful concepts, techniques and ideas. Google Adsense provides a simple sign up process and a simple system that generates cut-and-paste code that will display ads on the site that are matched to the site's content. With 15 minutes of effort and a brief wait for approval, a webmaster will be set to receive about half of his potential revenue stream from Adsense. The other half of the revenue takes a little thinking and work.
AD LAYOUT The shape of the ad will have a great affect on clickthrough rate. If you choose to use a format that is very familiar and easily ignored, like a traditional banner ad shape (468 by 60 pixels), your performance will be poor. If you choose a newer format like a tower (120 wide by 600 tall) you will see better performance. www.CFNewbie.com utilizes this format. You will also see higher clickthrough rates as the overall size of the ad grows. If your site allows it, go with the biggest and newest shapes that Adsense offers.
COLOR The color of your Adsense ads can affect the way users respond. You can be subtle and blend into the rest of the page and may draw people to links as they appear to offer more information rather than standing out screaming come buy something. The subtle approach can be accomplished by selecting the standard Google Adsense color scheme closest to your site's scheme or you can match exactly using the custom pallet.
You may want to attract attention to your Adsense ads. You can do this by selecting or creating color schemes that stand out. You will also want to use the mulitple color scheme feature by selecting several color schemes by holding down your control (Ctrl) key and clicking up to four choices. The varying color schemes may get more notice than a constant color scheme.
POSITION The position of your Google Adsense ad can have affect on how well the ad performs. Avoid blindspots and consider how a visitor exits a page. The most likely blindspot to avoid is the traditional spot for banner ads. Visitors will likely ignore a banner shaped ad at the top or bottom of your page. They will likely ignore a tower placed at the top of the right or left column if the content extends beyond the length of the ad. In the case of content rich pages, it would be wise to test placing non-banner shaped ads at the end of the page where the reader is done with a page and ready to exit. ChristianMusician.com uses this technique effectively at the end of articles, offering the reader more articles and relavent ads. It's always a good idea to give your visitors a path through your site that is relavent and valuable to both you and them.
CHANNELS Google recently added channels to Adsense. A channel is just an extra bit of code that lets you track revenue from a channel such as a site, a page, or some other characteristic you may want to track.
Prior to the introduction of channels, a webmaster would place Adsense code on various sites and pages and would only see an aggregate result of clickthrough and revenues. With channels, you can set a channel for various sites or various pages or various ad types. By your using your channels you can determine what ads are working in which location. On FlashCFM.com an Adsense banner ad performed very well in some pages and a large Amazon ad performed poorly so a large Adsense replaced the Amazon ad.
USE THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD The Scientific Method can be summarized as Plan, Do, Check, Act. By planning out your attack by designing and implementing your ads, you accomplish the Plan Do portion of the cycle. By using Adsense Channels, you can check to see how your plan worked. You will no doubt see ways to Act or adjust your approach after checking your results. You may end up modifying your site or modifying your strategies on attracting traffic. No matter what the case, you will need to do a little work but the results are worth it.
About the author: Tom Barr, MBA, is a long time ColdFusion developer and perpetual student of web advertising. And why wouldnt you? Its a great service. Itll find what youre looking for faster and more accurately than anyone else. Of course, Google is a publicly traded company that needs to make a profit and in the process of commercializing their technology, the company has created one of the most consistent revenue streams for webmasters today, AdSense.
(This article geared towards content publishers, advertisers see AdWords)
AdSense is a pay per click program in which ads are targeted to search results and website content with advertisers paying for each click received. In contrast to other types of affiliate programs, AdSense can be more profitable to publishers because it requires no spending on the customers part. Advertisers are paying for the interested traffic.
Part of the reason the program is so successful is that the ads are unobtrusive text that can actually be useful to visitors. By matching the ads to the content, the message is relevant, and therefore advertisers can convert more clicks into sales.
Once you have a site running, and if the content does not go against Googles terms (gambling and adult sites are not allowed, for example), you can join the program. After applying, your site will be reviewed to make sure it does not contain objectionable material. This should only take a few days, then youre in. There are no other requirements, such as the traffic levels that other advertising networks require. You will now have access to the code to add to your website.
However, there is more to profiting from your content than just joining the program and pasting ads randomly on the page. For one, the content of your page must be useful to readers (to keep them coming back) and at the same time valuable to advertisers. Website hosting, for example, is a consistently profitable phrase. Of course, that field has become crowded now. The key remains to find an untapped niche.
Also, sites are limited to three units on a page so as to not overwhelm readers. Positioning is crucial. Studies show that the most viewed area of a page is toward the top and left (think of where you normally start reading). Placing ads right after the content or embedding them in the articles are also effective techniques. Google has examples of placement to guide you once you join AdSense.
Last, but just as important, is the appearance of the AdSense units. The program allows their colors to be customized to match the look of your site. Use this ability to make the ads look like the rest of the links on your site and be sure to match the background color as well. Visitors will respond better as they see will give the text a chance instead of unconsciously rejecting them as advertisements.
There is a lot more to explore and experiment with, but by now you should have a general idea of how AdSense works. Good luck!
About the author: This is an introductory article to AdSense, visit ClickForDeals.net to learn more about making money through pay per click and affiliate programs.
What they never told you about adsense!
That's right! Many webmasters are getting suckered into joining adsense in hopes of earning quick cash. What they aren't being told is that it's harder than that.
Though google adsense is still one of the best programs out there to earn revenue from your site, there is more to it than that. For example if you think you can just past the links in your site content and watch the money flow in well... In truth few people ever get that lucky some of have to work at it for a while before we get our cash. One of the few mistakes people ever make is thinking google adsense does all the work for you.
Of course we all know that adsense has the most features out there and that it is the best in customer support. Still though if you have a hard time getting clicks off your adsense account, you are not alone. Truth is even though most people may find the ads relevent, many surfers out there have caught the anti-ad bug. This is due to the fact that most ads on sites always misleed you. Everyone knows free hats,free ps2s, and just about free everything. Wich in reality you won't get the said materials. So even though they see an ad they what to click they will not click on thinking that it will mislead them.
This is partly due to the fact that many ads are circling the net with false promises. There exist no way to get past this except fooling the users into thinking that the link is not an ad but a link written by you. Though this is hard hence the ads by gooogle label that goes with every adsense advertisment. But that's why most people get more clicks by blending their ads with their content. Though they the ads by google they believe the links are not misleading since the sites are part of your site.
It's like soldiers when they wear camo. They want to blend in as much as possible. Well try it and see what you get!
About the author: Owner of http://allaboutadsense.blogspot.com/. I like to write articles about my experiences.
Work Your Google AdSense to the Bone!
You got your website, you got your AdSense account, you have updated and published your new pages with AdSense code all over it and you are starting to see a little bit of money trickling through - and it is not what you were expecting!
Like you, I thought I would be rolling in the AdSense money so fast that I already had my resignation letter printed and signed. That did not happen (yet). Well, that does not mean I have to throw that letter away, I will just have to backdate it for when I can do it.
When you are faced with this predicament, which I think everyone will come to at some point; you will need to separate yourself from the AdSense pack! You will have to transform yourself into an AdSense scientist and experiment with your website to get the best results possible! You might try some of the following:
Let's say that you are getting decent traffic to your website, so therefore you are getting a lot of AdSense impressions, but with little or no clicks. The symptoms could be related to a lack of relevancy with the AdSense ads. Go to your website and view, but DO NOT click on, your AdSense ads. Now, imagine you are one of your visitors to your website; do the ads seem relevant to your site? If you think there is a relevancy problem, you can do two things to combat it:
Look for a common thread among the AdSense ads and see if there is a term in your keywords or content that relates to it. If so, you might want to change the words to eliminate the connection.
Look at the web addresses at the bottom of the AdSense ads, you might consider blocking those web sites from your AdSense account, by doing this you will eliminate that ad from showing up again, but realize that you may get a similar ad to take its place.
Create more pages and add more content that is relevant. Make your website stickier. Make the visitor want to stay on your site longer.
Try not to think of AdSense first when putting your content together, think of your visitors and giving them something worthwhile, the AdSense stuff should just be a bonus, that is why it is considered passive income, it means you are not supposed to think about it!
Make sure you have positioned the ads well, do not hide them, do not be ashamed of them, you got them there for a reason!
Ensure that your site is well optimized - that everything it pointing to one thing - your targeted subject matter.
The problem could be that your keywords are just not that "lucrative", get yourself a listing of top paying keywords to ensure that you are using appropriate keywords that will bring in more money per click.
If you are consistently making a couple of bucks, a day or a week then replicate it. Create other web sites on different topics, different keywords. Make a couple of bucks a day or week with that one, and then continue to make another and another. Compound your efforts until you are making the kind of money you want to make.
Look for ways to increase traffic to your site, but keep it targeted and keep it relevant for your visitors and for your AdSense ads.
Make sure that the pages within your website are well linked; there is nothing more frustrating then not knowing where to go or where you came from.
Open a Google AdWords account and run ads to direct traffic to your site. Make sure that the margin between what you are spending on AdWords and what you are making on AdSense is significant enough to make this worthwhile. The great thing about traffic from your AdWords is that the visitor has shown a tendency to click on these ads already; they have pre-qualified themselves to do it on your site. You will hope that they will repeat their efforts on your site.
That is it, do whatever strategy you can to work your AdSense to the bone! Make sure you do things legitimately, don't scam your visitors or manipulate them to make a few dollars with AdSense or any related program, the internet society has grown far too sophisticated to fall for anything like that, your site will be ignored and forgotten. Therefore, be a professional, treat your website like a business, and give your customers something relevant - then as an added bonus your AdSense ads will work with you.
About the author: John Pignanelli makes it easy to learn what it takes to make money with AdSense. Make the visitor want to stay on your site longer.
Try not to think of AdSense first when putting your content together, think of your visitors and giving them something worthwhile, the AdSense stuff should just be a bonus, that is why it is considered passive income, it means you are not supposed to think about it!
Make sure you have positioned the ads well, do not hide them, do not be ashamed of them, you got them there for a reason!
Ensure that your site is well optimized - that everything it pointing to one thing - your targeted subject matter.
The problem could be that your keywords are just not that "lucrative", get yourself a listing of top paying keywords to ensure that you are using appropriate keywords that will bring in more money per click.
If you are consistently making a couple of bucks, a day or a week then replicate it. Create other web sites on different topics, different keywords. Make a couple of bucks a day or week with that one, and then continue to make another and another. Compound your efforts until you are making the kind of money you want to make.
Look for ways to increase traffic to your site, but keep it targeted and keep it relevant for your visitors and for your AdSense ads.
Make sure that the pages within your website are well linked; there is nothing more frustrating then not knowing where to go or where you came from.
Open a Google AdWords account and run ads to direct traffic to your site. Make sure that the margin between what you are spending on AdWords and what you are making on AdSense is significant enough to make this worthwhile. The great thing about traffic from your AdWords is that the visitor has shown a tendency to click on these ads already; they have pre-qualified themselves to do it on your site. You will hope that they will repeat their efforts on your site.
That is it, do whatever strategy you can to work your AdSense to the bone! Make sure you do things legitimately, don't scam your visitors or manipulate them to make a few dollars with AdSense or any related program, the internet society has grown far too sophisticated to fall for anything like that, your site will be ignored and forgotten. Therefore, be a professional, treat your website like a business, and give your customers something relevant - then as an added bonus your AdSense ads will work with you.
About the author: John Pignanelli makes it easy to learn what it takes to make money with AdSense. Signup is free and all you have to do is put the ads on your site.
But easy does not always mean simple.
Google makes it easy to sign up, generate an ad and put it on your site, however, it's not always so simple designing your site for interest, finding high paying keywords and placing your ads so that they attract maximum clicks.
Here are a few surefire tips that will help draw interest to your site and your ads while helping you get the clicks that will make you money.
1. Build content rich sites Content rich sites do several things for you. They keep viewers on your site because you are providing information of interest. It's also important to keep the information refreshed periodically with up-to-date and current content. This is not only useful for your viewers, the search engines like it as well.
Sites containing useful content will also help establish you as an expert in your field allowing viewers to respect your opinions and suggestions. But most importantly, good content will keep your viewers coming back to your site. They will bookmark your site more often and notify their friends a lot more. 2. Research and use higher paying keywords. Develop site pages using topics that contain high paying keywords while keeping the keywords relevant to your topic.
The Overture website has a free 'keywords bid tool' that is excellent for showing you what advertisers are paying for keywords.
For example, using this tool I can see that the keyword 'pet medication' has a maximum bid of $1.51 while the keyword 'pet name' has a maximum bid of $.11. If I were looking for informational pages to add to my pet site, the clear choice here would be to develop a page about pet medications and optimize that page for the keyword 'pet medication'. 3. Place your ads in the upper left hand quarter of your website. Studies show that people almost always scan your site from the top left working down. Placing a vertical skyscraper ad in that section can help increase your click through rate from 2% to as much as 30% or higher.
4. Don't use horizontal banners or ads. Google recommends that you use vertical as opposed to horizontal ads. Web surfers see lots of horizontal banners and ads and they almost instantaneously avoid them.
According to Google, wider ad formats such as the large rectangle and inline rectangle also tend to perform quite well. This is probably due to the fact that they are more reader friendly allowing you to read more text at a glance without having to skip a line and return to the left margin every few words.
My experience is that positioning these ads just before or just after your main content can increase your clickthrough rate substantially. 5. Avoid the Dead Zones Google research has shown that there are zones within your site that won't generate clicks. These areas are the top right of your site, the bottom right-hand corner and the very bottom. Ads in these areas are often ignored. Keep your ads to the upper left, and center or just above or below your primary content.
6. Coordinate the ad colors to match your site colors. Google adsense offers an array of colors that you can use to display your ads. Choose the two main colors of your site and use those colors for your ad. Keep the URL link of the ad in blue since this is the link color that most viewers are use to. The idea is to blend your ads with your site content so as to invite more clicks.
7. Follow the adsense program policies to the letter. Google keeps a close eye on how their ads are displayed and they will cancel you immediately if you break the rules. Google adsense is an excellent way to bring in some extra revenue so don't risk losing a good thing.
About the author: Whether you're building a home internet business or looking for internet marketing tools, Elizabeth McGee will help you build your web business and find the tools you need.
Elizabeth McGee
Profitable Internet Home Based Business - 4 Crucial Steps
You may ask, what are the things I have to do and pay attention to in order to build a profitable Internet home based business?
